A ROMANTIC WINTER WEDDING IN GRETNA GREEN – TOM AND SABRYIA

December 4, 2020

IF YOU’RE PLANNING A GRETNA GREEN WEDDING, YOU’LL LOVE THIS WEDDING!

When Tom and Sabryia first got in touch with me about their elopement in Gretna Green, I was so excited – they were planning a romantic winter wedding with a sunset ceremony and a lovely intimate meal with family for the reception. Tom and Sabryia are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!

THE EXCITEMENT BEFORE THE WEDDING

I started at the Cottages, just across from the famous Blacksmith Shop, where the couple and their families were getting ready, and it was so much chilled, and everyone was in a such a good mood. Tom wore a classic blue suit and Sabryia wore a gorgeous lace dress and they both looked absolutely gorgeous. After Sabryia was dressed, we organised a quick first look with Sabryia’s dad, this is one of my favorite photographs to capture and it always gets me, but just wait until you see her dad’s reaction! After that, Sabryia and her dad were taken to the wedding venue by a horse and carriage which was THE most amazing thing ever.

THE CEREMONY

The wedding took place at the Famous Blacksmith Shop just across the road, and was a romantic ceremony. They had a beautiful reading, which brought pretty much everyone to tears. After the ceremony they walked down the aisle together, and then we snuck off to grab coupe of quick snaps in the Blacksmith Shop.

AFTER THE CEREMONY

After the ceremony, we all headed outside to do some confetti photos (my fave) and to grab some family photos before Tom and Sabryia headed off in their horse and carriage.

The wedding reception took place at the gorgeous Smith Hotel, which is one of the main hotel in the area and right across the road, one of my fave things about a Gretna Green Wedding is that everything is so close to each other. They had their meal and speeches in a private dining area in the Smiths Hotel, which was great because it was so personal.

It was a cool day, which didn’t bother them at all. While the guests hung around drinking Prosecco, the couple went back to the bridal suite where Sabryia got changed into a gorgeous white fringed jumpsuit, which made her and her baby bump look incredible!! My favourite photo from the afternoon is the one of Tom and Sabryia by the Christmas Tree. Check it out below!

During the reception they had a lovely meal with friends and family, which went down a storm. For the meal they had proper wedding grub, and it was loved by all the guests. Afterwards, they had some wonderful speeches and some really heartfelt and sweet words from their families. They also had a surprise personalised song as a gift from Tom’s brother Liam, which everyone LOVED.

TOP TIP FOR PLANNING A WEDDING

If there’s anything that Tom and Sabryia’s wedding taught me, it’s that all you need to have a perfect day is your other half (obvs!) and your loved ones present.
