SHELLY-MAY AND GEMMEL’S CHIC MORDEN HALL WEDDING WAS MY DREAM WEDDING. THEY’RE SUPER FUN PEOPLE, THEY HAD POLAROIDS, SMOKE BOMBS, A GIN AND TONIC BAR AND OODLES OF STYLE! HONESTLY IT WAS LIKE THEY WENT INTO MY HEAD AND JUST PULLED OUT ALL OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS!
When Shelly-May and Gemmel first got in touch with me about their Morden Hall wedding in Morden, South London, I was so excited – they were planning the most beautiful and stylish wedding with a live band, smoke bombs and even gin cocktails. Shelly-May and Gemmel are the loveliest people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
Bride and groom prep
I rocked up at Morden Hall, where the couple and their friends were relaxing before the big event, and it was so chilled out, because everyone was in a good mood. Shelly-May wore a gorgeous off the shoulder mermaid style dress and Gemmel wore a dark grey suit and they looked so incredible. The morning was so much fun because the two of them were both getting ready in the venue. This is always great because it means that I could just walk back and forth between the two of them capturing both the bride and groom getting ready.
The ceremony
The wedding took place in the stunning Willow room downstairs, and was a romantic intimate ceremony, perfect for a chic and minimal wedding. They had beautiful string music, which was just magical. After the ceremony they had a sweeping first kiss, and then we went and did some beautiful portraits. We even managed to get some gorgeous sunset portraits and some fun smoke bomb shots.
After the ceremony
The wedding reception took place in the Mulberry room of Morden Hall, which they’d decorated with with polaroids of the two of them. It was so unique.
It was a bright and sunny day, which was perfect for photos. While the guests enjoyed the cocktails, the couple mingled while I took candids. My favourite photo from our couples session is these two at sunset.
During the reception they a homemade cocktail bar, which such a unique idea. For the wedding breakfast they had proper wedding grub, and it was loved by all the guests. After the meal they had some wonderful speeches, then the party got started and the couple hit the dancefloor. They also had sparklers, which was a great laugh. The couple also were treated to the first dance song being sung by one of their closest friends and groomsmen! I have never seen such an full dance floor and they chose some incredible tunes. They even finished the night with shots, these two were definitely my kind of couple.
