OH MY GOD! WHAT A WEDDING.
When Hollie and Luke first got in touch with me about their destination wedding at the Royalton Riviera wedding in Cancun, Mexico, I was so excited – they were planning such a fun and relaxed wedding with an relaxed vibe, a sand ceremony and LOTS of tequila. Hollie and Luke are the most amazing people and I couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding!
The excitement before the wedding
I began the morning at the Royalton Spa, where Hollie was getting ready, and it was so chilled, because. Hollie wore the most gorgeous lace and crepe gown which was the perfect choice for a destination wedding gown and Luke and the boys all wore relaxed styled light grey suits and they looked so incredible. I left Hollie to finish getting her finishing touches done and headed over to the boys to get some shots of them getting ready.
Getting hitched
The wedding took place on the Sky Terrace of the Royalton Riviera Resort overlooking the sea, and was a stunning outdoor ceremony. They had mixture of Mexican and UK wedding traditions, which was so unique. One of my favourite parts of the ceremony was the sand pouring.After the ceremony there was a big cheer from everyone, and then the celebrations began. After the ceremony everyone headed back downstairs to grab a drink from the bar while the four of us stayed up on the Sky Terrace to grab some couple shots.
The reception
The wedding reception took place in the Taj restaurant in the resort, which is one of the many gorgeously decorated restaurants on the resort. It was incredible.
It was a beautifully sunny day, which was perfect for photos. So while the guests hung around drinking Prosecco, we snuck the couple off for some portrait photos around the resort. My favourite photo from our couples session is of the two of them cuddling up on the beach.
During the reception they had a, which went down a storm. It was SO much fun. For the wedding breakfast they had proper wedding grub, and it was loved by all the guests. After the wedding breakfast they had some wonderful speeches, then the couple had their first dance and everyone hit the dance floor. I knew that I was going to love these two from their first email and even more so to say that I’ve been excited for Hollie and Luke’s Cancun wedding is a massive understatement. I cannot believe how much fun we had with them and their incredible families.
Post Wedding Session
HOLY CRAP, I obviously couldn’t not mention their post wedding session, if there’s anything I love more than staying up until the early hours of the morning drinking tequila with my couples, it’s getting up at 5am with them to photograph them in the sea at sunrise! (that’s not sarcasm I promise!)
These two absolutely killed it!
