If you love non traditional weddings then you’ll find so much inspiration from this monochrome wedding!
Holy shit, have I got a wedding for you!! Steph and James got married at the gorgeous Old Library, Digbeth. It was a stunning monochrome wedding! Steph wore a dress that she had designed and made herself (literal genius) and James matched her in an uber cool all black suit. They’d decorated the venue with gorgeous florals, temporary tattoos and a vinyl guestbook to keep guests entertained. All in all, it was a super relaxed day full of lots of cheery banter and sunshine.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place in the main room at the Old Library, and was beautifully decorated with florals and candles, which looked lovely. The ceremony was a celebrant led ceremony which included some lovely readings and the couple saying personal vows they’d written themselves. It was a moving occasion, full of nervous giggles and happy tears. (Honestly, it was such a beautiful ceremony, even Kaye and I were in tears by the end of it!)
After the ceremony, the five of us jumped in the limo and headed over to the Botanical Gardens for some couple photos, I love doing this because it’s such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in, and not to mention with my plant obsession, I was in heaven! We got some stunning photos of the two of them amongst all of the greenery and sunshine.
The Party
The reception was also held at The Old Library. The venue is perfect for weddings because it has so many options, and it’s got such a cool vibe, especially in the main room when the candles and fairy lights are glowing as the light goes down.
For the drinks reception, the couple had organised for drinks over in the NOMAD building in Zellig, which is a perfect place to mingle! Guests were then called for the wedding breakfast. I love the freedom you can have for catering options at The Old Library – S+J had burgers and doughnuts which were delicious.

After dinner and some incredible speeches, the couple cut the cake, and the party got started. The DJ was amazing and S+J picked all the best songs to keep the party going all night.
The evening ended with drinks, temporary tattoos and dancing, which if you ask me is always a great way to end an evening, and you could really tell that everyone was having a great time. S+J and their whole wedding was everything I love about weddings, from the Steph’s awesome dress, stylish decor, celebrant led ceremony and the wonderful speeches, it really was a day to remember!
I love these two and their amazing wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a wedding photographer, get in touch.
