Elegant Rainy Day Wedding at Fairyhill in Gower, Swansea

Elinor and Mark got married at the spectacular Fairyhill, Gower, Swansea, in September. It was a wonderful rainy day wedding, with flowers everywhere and the most stunning cake.

Bride and groom prep

Ellie got ready in the Bridal Suite at Fairy hill with her close family, and there was such a relaxed vibe. Every South Wales wedding photographer knows that Fairyhill has some of the most gorgeous rooms and decor which makes for amazing photographs. She wore a beautiful white dress, with beautiful lace detailing on the back, and she looked incredible. Elinor then walked downstairs from the bridal suite to get to the ceremony. When she got to the stairs, Elinor was greeted by her close family waiting for her.

Mark got ready at the Oxwich Bay Hotel with his groomsmen. He wore a lovely fitted Navy suit from Slaters, and looked really dapper. The boys then travelled the short distance to Fairyhill, Gower by car. When the boys arrived they were greeted by Mark and Elinor’s guests and family members.

The vows

The ceremony took place in the spectacular kaleidoscope room at Fairyhill. The ceremony area was decorated tastefully using white and blush flowers, which was just beautiful, it fitted in perfectly with their elegant elegant theme. The ceremony began with a beautiful reading, and finished with them walking down the aisle and being showered with colourful confetti. It was a romantic ceremony, full of excited hand squeezes and lots of laughter.

After the ceremony, we went for couples portraits, which is such a great time for the newly married couple to have some time to let it sink in. Then we did some family photos, which I think are really important. I got some lovely portrait photos inside the venue – normally I would always recommend doing groups photos and family formal photos outside as you can’t beat natural light however the interior of Fairyhill is the perfect backdrops for photos if it is raining. The weather was a bit drizzly, but that didn’t put a dampener on moods.

The afternoon

Elinor and Mark chose to have their wedding at Fairyhill because it’s where they always wanted to have their wedding, and the food is incredible. Fairyhill is a modern country house, and it’s got such an spectacular atmosphere, especially the kaleidoscope room when the the lights go down.

The evening

After the speeches, they cut the cake, and the dancefloor was packed from the moment the first dance finished until the very last song. The live band kept the party going all night.

The evening ended with Jagerbombs all round, which was hilarious – and definitely kept the party atmosphere going. The whole wedding was everything I love about weddings, from the beautiful vows to the awesome live band. Ellie and Mark were 100% my dream couple.

They were absolutely incredible to work with and I had so much fun with them and their hilarious bridal party. One of the funniest moments of the wedding was the best man speech, because when he presented Ellie’s with a signed picture of her Rugby crush. The bride’s shoes were also a talking point of the wedding – because they were a pair of beautiful ballet styled slippers.
